Summer has officially arrived and with it comes fall training season. Though running in the heat at times can feel brutal, know when you are toeing the start line in your races come September, October and November, the hard work you put in will all be worth it.
If you haven’t locked in your fall race schedule yet—or made your way in to one of the high-demand races via lottery system—we rounded up 10 of the best races in the country that you should be training for now (this is your official reminder!).
September 2017
American Association for Cancer Research Rock ‘n’ Roll Philadelphia
September 16-17
Celebrating its 7th year, the half marathon, 10K and 5K all take you by historic landmarks in the city. There are, of course, bands posted along the entire course and you’ll get to finish near the famed Rocky steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Chicago Half Marathon and 5K
September 24
The 21st annual Chicago Half Marathon and 5K takes you through the Windy City on foot. Get the opportunity to run on a traffic-free Lake Shore Drive and take in the sights of the skyline along the way!

Bank of America Chicago Marathon

While you can no longer register for this race, there are some spots left with the official charity partners. This iconic race takes runners through the city to Grant Park, with runners having to complete an application process and then be notified of entry. If you can’t run, spectating is quite the experience thanks to the elites that take on the course every year.

PNC Milwaukee Marathon
October 14-15
This race offers five distances, from the mile up to the marathon, meaning it has something for every runner! This certified Boston-qualifier course takes runners through the heart of the city and along the shores of Lake Michigan.

Marine Corps Marathon
October 22
This is one of the largest marathons in the country and is known for its amazing execution. Run by the US Marines, you have to have gained entry via their lottery system in order to run. If you didn’t make this year’s cut, put it on your calendar for next year!

This race has become known as the World’s Largest Halloween Half Marathon. Grab a costume—and a friend—and run through the streets of downtown Los Angeles, celebrating the holiday weekend the best way runners know how.

Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon

There are only two times every year that the Las Vegas strip is closed to traffic and this race is one of them. This race allows you to ‘Run The Strip At Night’ and see the lights and sounds of Vegas in a way few get the chance to!
