Embrace The Songs Of Summer

Of all the seasons one could celebrate with a song, summer likely lends itself best to the task. There exist stray tunes about the spring and fall, and winter gets its due (though much of that is bound together with the holiday spirit). When one relies on the weather alone to produce a musical moment, only summer delivers inspiration so consistently. With that in mind, we’ve surveyed a few tunes that feel custom-built for summer runs.

The list below kicks of with an aptly-titled track from Weezer and an ode to Malibu from Miley Cyrus. Further down the beach, you’ll find “Cake by the Ocean” and “Heatstroke.” Capturing country music’s recent obsession with warm weather, Luke Bryan contributes a tune about “Suntan City” and Blake Shelton is “Bringing Back the Sunshine.” Generally, the lift in temperature is enough to lure folks back outdoors this time of year. But, if you’re looking for a more specific call to action, anything below would make for a fine—and topical—addition to your running mix.

Weezer – Feels Like Summer – 88 BPM

La La Land Cast – Another Day of Sun – 126 BPM

DNCE – Cake by the Ocean – 119 BPM

Demi Lovato – Cool for the Summer – 114 BPM

Circa Waves – T-Shirt Weather – 160 BPM

Luke Bryan – Suntan City – 118 BPM

Calvin Harris, Young Thug, Pharrell Williams & Ariana Grande – Heatstroke – 110 BPM

Lana Del Rey & Cedric Gervais – Summertime Sadness – 125 BPM

Blake Shelton – Bringing Back the Sunshine – 139 BPM

Miley Cyrus – Malibu – 70 BPM
