The Women’s Retreat That Creates Lifelong Relationships

The Rock Retreat Run is a weekend retreat for women runners, yes, but the connections made continue to blossom year-round.

Going to camp isn’t only for kids—there are plenty of multi-day packages for active adults as well. Think of all the fun of your childhood sleepaway—but with like-minded adults who love to run and zero pressure to participate in an end-of-summer talent show.

Rock Retreat Run

Organized by Fellow Flowers, a business dedicated to empowering and connecting women, this retreat is all about bringing female runners together to meet, share, learn and have fun.

My experience

At both the 2015 and 2016 retreats, I have felt the power of different women’s stories, but I’ve also learned about everything from essential oils to embracing pain. Since Women’s Running is a sponsor, I’ve enjoyed sharing our research and resources as well. This is the kind of weekend where you find yourself tapping into deep emotions as often as lacing up for a run or laying out a yoga mat. After the weekend wraps, a private Facebook group keeps the discussion and support going as everyone brings lessons learned back home. Lest this feel too serious, every day ends with themed evening party attire, signature cocktails and some amazing gifts.

What else you should know

If you aren’t familiar with Fellow Flowers, you’ll be amazed how welcomed and included you will feel. The prior retreats have been in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Traverse City, Mich., and have included climbing a mountain, running a 5K on the final morning and listening to celebrated speakers, such as Love Warrior author Glennon Doyle Melton and Girls on the Run founder Molly Barker.
