A huge new opportunity has been announced for high school student-athletes: the Zensah-Kara Goucher Scholarship Program. Two student athletes—one male and one female—will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship toward their college education.
The online application (which can be accessed here) is open to any high school student that has participated in at least one season of a high school sport that is related to running.
Zensah, a leader in high-performance compression apparel, and Olympian Kara Goucher both believe that high school athletics teach student-athletes grit and perseverance. Zensah specifically cites Goucher’s own high school running career, winning state championships and qualifying twice for Foot Locker nationals—and her record of standing up for a fair and equal sport.
“I am very excited to be a part of the Zensah-Kara Goucher Scholarship Program. Zensah recognizes the importance of high school sports and what a powerful impact participation can have on students’ lives,” stated Goucher, in a news release announcing the scholarship. “High school sports not only allowed me to form lifelong friendships, but it also taught me how to be successful in my adult life.”
The deadline for high school student-athletes to apply is April 23rd, 2017. The selection committee—which will include Goucher, Zensah, and select representatives from the running industry—will review applications and notify the finalists on May 8th. Awardees will be announced May 29th. For more information, visit zensah.com/scholarship.
