10 AMA-Nominated Tracks

While award shows may often seem like a blur—with so much overlap between them—the American Music Awards stands out in regard to its selective nomination process. While most other music award shows draw from crowded fields of five or so nominees in each category, the AMAs limit their contenders to just three. (They do allow five nominees in a trio of marquee categories: Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year and Collaboration of the Year.) With this year’s broadcast just around the corner, it’s an opportune time to survey tracks in the running in search of potential workout tracks.

Bruno Mars leads the pack this year, with eight nominations to his credit. Behind him, a quintet of acts are tied with a quintet of nominations each: Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, The Chainsmokers and Drake. Elsewhere, relative newcomers Alessia Cara and Julia Michaels vie for the AMA’s signature pyramid trophies, along with crossover favorites Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee.

Competition aside, this year’s show should prove memorable, as Tracee Ellis Ross will be hosting the broadcast while her mother Diana receives the much-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award. On every front, there’s plenty to which you can look forward. Moreover, the playlist below will help you get fit and get ready at once. So, when ready, you can find tracks from 10 of the year’s nominees below—listed by one of the categories in which they’ll be competing.
