On occasion, I enjoy posting quotes from real women runners. Whether
barely a beginner, an experienced elite, or any level in between, all of us
gals are bound together by the common themes of our running experience. – Holly
Bennett

As a surfer, I’ve
been known to pee in my wetsuit to warm up – or just because I’m too lazy
to peel myself out of my neoprene. But as for running…

It was actually the
second time I’d tried to run the Dipsea after having two kids. The first time I
went super slow, so the next year I wanted to increase my pace. I made a
typical novice mistake and went out waaay too fast. By mid-race my body just
started giving out, and as I was stumbling down a particularly steep,
treacherous stretch of trail I felt something warm running down my leg. At
first I thought it was sweat. But when it continued to dribble out I realized I
had actually wet my pants, completely involuntarily. But here’s the kicker: I
was so phenomenally exhausted I didn’t even care. Thanks to the miracle of
black Lycra, I don’t think anyone else could tell, either! – Ginny, 46
