It’s the most wonderful time of the year (and the busiest!). Though we love all of the festivities, staying fit during this time of year requires firm dedication. Don’t let the holidays wreak havoc on your fitness goals – stay fit with these tips from Women’s Running:

Workout early. Between festive brunches and rockin’ parties, it’s easy to put your training on the back burner. By running first thing in the morning, you’ll start your day off on the right foot (pun intended!) and avoid putting it off due to a packed schedule.

Snack before heading out. Whether your planning to shop ’til you drop or hitting a cocktail party, it’s no secret that willpower is weakened during this time of year. Stay true to healthy eating by filling up at home before you set out for the festivities. Keep a small bag of nuts or a granola bar in your purse to keep hunger at bay when temptation is lurking.

Create a new tradition. Mix things up by meeting the girls at the gym for a group fitness class or grab the family and head out for a hike. It’s never too late to make a new holiday ritual that involves healthy fun.

Give healthy gifts. Nothing says love like the gift of health. Register your loved one for an upcoming fun run (and promise to train with her!) or buy some snazzy new run gear. Whatever you choose, sticking with a fitness theme means those around you will be more likely to join you on your next run!
