The next stop on my lunch-time trade show food sampling frenzy was the PowerBar station. As I was a bit full from my prior taste-testing, I went straight for the one product I had not sampled previously – PowerBar Energy Bites. Available in both Chocolate and Oatmeal Raisin, the bites (actually yummy little ball-shaped treats) provide a refreshing texture and flavor alternative to more traditional energy food products. They’re formulated with PowerBar’s C2MAX energy blend, a 2:1 ratio of glucose to fructose, which the company claims delivers 20-50% more energy to muscles than glucose alone. I think the bites taste great, and are a perfect pre-workout top-your-tank snack. Toss a bag or two in your gym duffel and you’ll be sure to avoid the dreaded bonk when you head to the gym, road or trails.
