2014 Big Sur Marathon

Take a look at photos from one of the most beautiful marathons!

Often called the most beautiful marathon, Big Sur is a race to add to your bucket list.  Runners spend 26.2 miles traversing through redwood forests, over cliffs, and across the Bixby Creek Bridge. Gorgeous views of the California coastline are the reward for climbing up hills. There is even a tuxedo-clad piano player waiting at the top of one particularly challenging hill!

This year’s race had nearly 4,000 participants, including over 300 runners who raced Boston the week prior as part of the Boston 2 Big Sur challenge. Among those were both the male and female winners. Michael Wardian won the men’s race in 2:27:45. Nuta Olaru won the women’s race for the third consecutive year in a time of 2:53:15.

Are you thinking about running next year’s race on April 26, 2015? Registration opens in July 15. Information regarding the registration process will be released on May 15. You can plan your trip with our guide to Monterey, CA!
