No visit to Interbike’s sports nutrition section would be complete without a stop at the GU booth. The folks at GU Energy Labs continue to create new styles and flavors of performance nutrition products sure to keep your athletic engine running during even the most strenuous events. Last year, GU launched their Chomps Energy Chews, and now they’ve added what I believe is the best flavor to date: Watermelon. Chomps provide the same benefits as GU’s original Energy Gel – electrolytes, amino acids, Vitamins C and E and an optimum blend of complex and simple carbohydrates – in a gumdrop-like format. For people who don’t adore the texture of the gooey gels, Chomps are a terrific alternative – still quick to digest, yet a bit more substantial to “chomp” on!
