Have you ever thought about eating frozen custard as pre-run nutrition? This week’s Women’s Running magazine Blogger On The Run has and swears it makes her faster! Meet Kristen from The Concrete Runner! She’s a new mom who loves running repeats around the track to increase her speedy girl skills. Read on to find out how running made its place in the Top Ten Days of Kristen’s life:

WR:Â How would you describe yourself?Â
K:Â Competitve runner. Frozen custard lover. New mom. Physical education teacher. Fitness professional. Health foodie.
WR: How did you begin running?
K:Â I started running cross country for school in 5th grade and ran track 2 years in high school, except I HATED being coached. I didn’t start running again until my freshman year of college and fell in love and haven’t stopped since!
WR:Â What keeps you running and training?
K:Â I just simply LOVE running. It is my therapy and my “Me Time.”
WR:Â What type of run is your favorite?
K:Â I love running repeats – specifically 400s and 800s. I know these are the workouts that make me a faster runner, which is always my goal.
WR:Â What’s your favorite race memory?
K:Â Winning my first 5K. I had been training with a high school cross country team (I was a volunteer coach at the time) and decided to do a local 5K to test my speed. My goal was to win the race, but I also really wanted to break 20 minutes for a 5K. I ended up accomplishing both and it was probably one of my top 10 days in my life.
WR:Â How do you reward yourself for accomplishing your training/running goals?
K: After big races, my husband and I usually go out to dinner to kind of celebrate. I think maybe it’s just because I’m too lazy to cook after all that, but I love eating out. I also reward myself with a nap after most races!
WR: What do you hope your readers will get from your blog?Â
K:Â I hope they can just relate to the life of a busy running mom and health advocate. I write mostly for myself, but I want other people to realize that I’m just like them and struggle fitting in a healthy lifestyle on top of work and being a mom + wife.
