My workout for the day was a ‘snappy’ 70 minute xc ski. But, I was in Vail for the Winter Mountain Games and took advantage of a beautiful day and free lift ticket to make some downhill turns. Then it was time for a snowshoe race!

I opted to run the 5k, and quickly found myself someplace new….in the lead group. As my fellow rabbits were making a sharp right turn to head uphill, I backed off enough to settle my hypoxic breathing, but not enough to be passed by some of the canine racers. I love dogs of all shapes and sizes, but was not about to be pupped by a shih tzu. After pulling myself together, I had a better second loop and crossed the line first in my age group and in the top ten overall. A 5k snowshoe race really doesn’t correlate with Boston, but I had a blast and enjoyed the confidence boost.
