If you’re anything like us, you spent the weekend glued to the TV watching the Olympic Track & Field coverage while squeezing in your own runs. Funny how watching stellar athletes sweat it out puts a little pep in your step, isn’t it?

Though the weekend’s events were fruitful for some athletes, not all were able to secure the victories they worked so hard to achieve. No matter the outcome, it is amazing to watch strong female runners from all over the world gut it out against each other as they fight for an Olympic medal. Here are some of the results from this weekend’s events:

Women’s 10,000 Meters

Gold: Tirunesh Dibaba (Ethiopia), 30:20.75
Silver: Sally Kipyego Jepkosgei (Kenya), 30:26.37
Bronze:  Vivian Cheruiyot Jepkemoi  (Kenya), 30:30.44

Women’s 100 Meters

Gold: Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (Jamaica), 10.75
Silver: Carmelita Jeter (USA), 10.78
Bronze: Veronica Campbell-Brown (Jamaica), 10.81

Women’s 400 Meters

Gold: Sanya Richards-Ross (USA), 49.55
Silver: Christine Ohuruogu (Great Britian), 49.70
Bronze: Dee Dee Trotter (USA), 49.72

Women’s Marathon

Gold: Tiki Gelana (Ethiopia), 2:23:07 OLYMPIC RECORD!
Silver: Priscah Jeptoo (Kenya), 2:23:12
Bronze: Tatyana Petrova Arkhipova, (Russia), 2:23:09

Though training partners Shalane Flanagan and Kara Goucher did not capture a medal, they finished strong in 10th and 11th place, approximately 3 minutes behind the podium finishers. The third marathon runner for the USA, Desiree Davila, started the race to eventually pull out due to a hip injury. Davila’s destiny was unknown leading up to race day as speculation flurried that she would withdraw from the competition. In the end, Davila couldn’t let her dreams go of becoming an Olympian and knew if she started the race, she would at least achieve this sought after status.

More events are on the way tonight. American Lolo Jones makes her much anticipated debut in the 2012 Olympic Games as she takes on the hurdles. Stay tuned for more Olympic coverage!
