Sodas have a bad rep, and let’s face it, for good reasons. Regular versions are high in empty calories. The diet ones sweeten artificially. But now there is a no-calorie, all-natural, clear soda that comes in a variety of flavors. Zevia is sweetened with stevia and monk fruit and can certainly quench your thirst straight from the can, but we like the healthier cocktails we can make with it. Here are four ways to toast summertime (at any time of year!) for runners who want to skip the extra cals and still like a post-run party.
Aloha Captain
- 5 cups rum (40 ounces)
- 2.25 cups pineapple juice (20 ounces)
- 1–2 cans Cream Soda Zevia
- 3 cups club soda
In a pitcher, combine all the ingredients. Add ice and serve.
Skinny Moscow Mule
- 2 oz vodka
- 1 oz lime juice
- 3 oz Zevia Ginger Ale
- Mint and lime to garnish
Mix vodka and lime juice together and pour over ice. Top off with the ginger ale. Garnish with mint and a lime.
Ginger Lover
- 1.5 oz whiskey
- 3 splashes orange bitters
- 3 oz Ginger Ale Zevia
- Orange peel to garnish
Fill a highball glass with ice. Add the whiskey and bitters. Top with ginger ale and garnish with an orange peel.
Treehouse Punch
- 1.5 oz gin
- 0.5 oz lime juice
- 0.5 oz simple syrup (you can make one with stevia!)
- 0.5 oz Pama liquor
- 0.5 oz pineapple juice
- 2 oz Zevia Lemon Lime Twist
In a glass over ice, combine gin, lime juice, simple syrup, Pama liquor and pineapple juice. Mix well and top with Zevia Lemon Lime Twist.
Note: This can be made for a larger crowd in a punch bowl by combining 3 parts gin, 1 part lime juice, 1 part simple syrup, 1 part Pama liquor and 1 part pineapple juice. Mix well, and serve over ice, topping the glass with Zevia Lemon Lime Twist.
