A Peek At Fresh New Balance Gear Showing Up At NYC Marathon

One running is representing the New Balance #Iamthecompetition campaign at the New York City Marathon with this amazing race kit.

I’m running the New York City Marathon in a few weeks as part of a New Balance #Iamthecompetition program. I have some favorite pieces from the brand; my particular faves are the newly-released Precision Run line.

First: it’s navy. My ultimate favorite color—and it’s so nice to have women’s running kit that isn’t just black or pink. Second: it is seriously technical.

Let’s start with the leggings/crops. They feature a pretty polka dot pattern on the lower part of the leg that is both functional and stylish. The silver dots are reflective, ensuring you can be seen on your darker winter runs. The other holes are laser cut perforations that make the leggings breathable. Of course, no running leggings are complete without a pocket for your phone, keys or gel (these have a handy zip pocket in the back).

I find the waist really flattering and comfortable, complete with coral drawstrings to adjust to your middle. I’ve worn these so much since receiving them a month ago that I’ve put a whole in the bum – although I think that has more to do with the hiking/bottom shuffling in Arches National Park and Dead Horse State Park, Utah, than my running in them.

Note: If you’re someone who likes to run with a lot of stuff, have a look at the amazing side pockets on last season’s Precision Run Capriand they’re in the sale. Winning.

Another favorite from the range is the Precision Run Jacket. The color is called Castaway with Guava—in reality it’s teal and navy with a coral zipper. Again, I love that it’s not pink. This matches perfectly with the aforementioned crops, as well as with the vast array of black leggings in my workout wardrobe.

The seams are all bonded to avoid irritation on long runs, while the thumb holes and lightweight woven and jersey fabric will keep you warm throughout the cooler months of training (for those not lucky enough to live in the sunshine year-round). Reflective and glow trims keep you visible, while the zip pockets keep your running essentials (like your post-run coffee money) safe.

While you’re on the website, take a little look at the Newbury Tight. I’m in love—I just need them to make their way over to the UK and into my shopping basket!
