On Monday, April 17 2023, the Boston Marathon will begin. The Third Monday in April. Marathon Monday and also Patriot’s Day. The team at Women’s Running will be there with our sister colleagues from Outside Run to cover the race, the press conferences, the lead up and the post-marathon stories.  We don’t know how the race will end, but we do know it’s going to be an exciting one. The women’s field is stacked, and a certain men’s marathon World Record holder is coming to town for the first time.

This year represents ten years on from the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, adding to the significance of the day. The city of Boston is planning on remembrance events, acts of kindness and community service to mark the decade, and to honor the victims, survivors, and first responders.

Fans who aren’t lining the course need not feel left out. Here’s how to watch the 2023 Boston Marathon (the women’s pro field takes off at 9:45 a.m. Eastern).
