How To Watch The 2018 Chicago Marathon

Every October, thousands of runners line the streets of Chicago to participate in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Even more viewers than runners gather to watch the marathon from near and far. If you plan on viewing the runners as they wind through 29 different neighborhoods to complete the race, here’s what you need to know to tune in, whether you are spending race day at home or out and about.

The marathon kicks off in Grant Park on Sunday, October 7 at 7:20 a.m. EST with the men’s wheelchair start. National coverage will begin at 7 a.m. on both NBC 5 Chicago and Telemundo Chicago, with coverage ending at 11 a.m. A live stream of the race can be accessed by visiting nbcchicago.com and on telemundochicago.com from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Live radio coverage of the marathon will also be accessible via 670 The Score Sports Radio from 7 to 11 a.m.

The official breakdown of the Chicago Marathon start times is as follows:

7:20 a.m.: Men’s Wheelchair Start

7:21 a.m.: Women’s Wheelchair Start

7:22 a.m.: Marathon Handcycle Start

7:23 a.m.: Athletes with Disabilities Start

7:30 a.m.: Wave 1 Start

8:00 a.m.: Wave 2 Start

8:35 a.m.: Wave 3 Start
