2019 Boston Marathon Registration

Runners interested in racing the 2019 Boston Marathon are now able to log on to the Boston Athletic Association website and apply for one of the race’s coveted bibs. The 123rd running, which will be held on April 15, 2019, will cap at 30,000 entrants and will register qualified athletes using the same evaluation process (which prioritizes faster runners) used for the marathon since 2012. Those planning to register must have received a qualifying marathon time after September 16, 2017, when the Boston Marathon qualifying window opened for 2019’s race.

Though registration officially began today, the restrictions that prioritize faster runners will remain in place through September 17, at which time any runner who meets the basic qualifying requirements will be able to apply for entry. The restrictions leading up to September 17 are as follows:

September 10: Registration open to runners who have met their age group’s qualifying time by 20 minutes or more.

September 12: Registration opens to runners who have met their age group’s qualifying time by 10 minutes or more.

September 14: Registration opens to runners who have met their age group’s qualifying time by 5 minutes or more.

September 17: Registration opens to runners who have met their age group’s qualifying time.

The registration dates listed above are all dependent upon the number of spaces available in the general 30,000-member field. A couple of registration closures will take place between qualifying blocks (on September 15 and 16 and again from September 19 to 23), after which registration will reopen on September 24 until all available slots have been filled.

To register for the 2019 race, runners must have completed a marathon in accordance with the qualifying times outlined by the B.A.A. To learn more about registration details, visit baa.org.
