Feeling like you need a little me time? Here’s a collection of 10 tracks from acts that have your back. Each of the artists have left their groups to strike out on their own, so we compiled a playlist for running alone (just be sure you’re still aware of your surroundings and taking appropriate precautions to stay safe).
The list kicks off with a former Supreme and closes out with the breakout star of N.E.R.D. In between you’ll find hits from former frontmen (like Black Sabbath’s Ozzy), former frontwomen (like No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani), and delegates from boybands and girl groups (like Destiny’s Child’s Beyoncé and *NSYNC’s Justin Timberlake).
Elsewhere in the mix, you’ll find hits from groups that spawned multiple solo careers—like Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks and Genesis’s Phil Collins. (If you’re curious, those groups also introduced the world to Lindsey Buckingham and Peter Gabriel, respectively.) Lastly, you have the unusual case of the Beatles—in which all four members went on to successful careers (represented here by John Lennon).
All of this is to say that, sometimes, you just want to break free. And this playlist for running alone will keep the the tempo upbeat, by folks who can relate.
