Coined as the “mindful triathlon,” this roaming one-day event features a 5K run, yoga and guided meditation. No overnight here (there are longer festival options), this experience lasts from morning to afternoon—although it would be fun to grab some friends and make a weekend out of it in whatever city you choose. There were 24 locations offered worldwide in 2016.

My experience: As someone who runs, appreciates a good yoga flow and has zero experience in meditation, I had no clue what to expect. There were assorted healthy food vendors, refreshments and local shops selling cute clothes and jewelry. I fueled up for the run, which was entirely on the beach (I ran barefoot!). This is not a competitive race; it was, however, a serious workout. Yoga was next. Practicing next to so many people was a bit scary. Then music started, and we were instructed to dance! The dance party turned into a full practice that was suitable for newbies and seasoned yogis alike. For the guided meditation, I was curious how my mind would “shut off.” Thirty minutes later, I was more relaxed and centered, downloading the first meditation podcast I could find. It was such an amazing moment to experience silence in a crowd.

What else you should know: A healthy box lunch was served after the meditation and then it was time to break out for add-on activities such as barre or acro-yoga. Kids can join you for free.
