Sara Goberna is from Berlin, Germany, and she blogs at Happy Hips. We asked her a few questions about running:
Why do you run?
To own my life. It connects my body with my mind and helped me overcome my anxiety problems. As a side-effect, I shed some extra pounds and have lived a full, happy life since the first kilometer.
Describe your favorite place to run.
I love exploring my city while running. I also love open green spaces, but I really enjoy using my runs to explore neighborhoods that I don’t usually visit otherwise. Last week I ran following the path of the old Berlin wall on the north side of the city. I’ve been living here for 4 years and never had the chance to walk that path before. It was a really exciting and emotional run.
What’s your go-to pre- or post-run routine?
I always stretch before and after running. I lay my yoga mat and me and my dog Meggie work on some stretches before hitting the streets. It’s so much fun with her!
What makes you a badass?Â
I’ve been basically a lazy girl all my life. I started running about 1 year ago and I’ll be running my first half marathon in two weeks. My mum says my P.E teachers from school would never believe her if she told them what I’m up to nowadays.
How will you celebrate Global Running Day?
I’ve manage to convince my girls at the office to join for an upcoming 5k, so for Global Running Day I’ll convince them to break the 5k wall! Go girls!
