Matt Damon Will Narrate New Boston Marathon Documentary

Born and raised in the Boston-area, the actor has signed on to narrate the first feature-length documentary about the marathon.

April 19 is the date the first full-length feature documentary about the Boston Marathon is set to premiere nationwide—and today it was announced that it will be narrated by Academy-Award winner Matt Damon.

Born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Damon wrote the introduction to John Hanc’s book, The B.A.A. at 125: The Official History of The Boston Athletic Association 1887-2012 and his father and brother have both run the marathon four times.

BOSTON is directed by Jon Dunham—who you may know from his Spirit of the Marathon films—follows the race from its start in 1897 to present day and will premiere at the Boch Center Wang Theatre in Boston on April 15 and will be followed by a nationwide screening on more than 500 screens through Fathom Events on April 19. It includes interviews with past champions and amateur runners and was granted exclusive documentary rights from the Boston Athletic Association (as well as use of its extensive archive of video, photos and memorabilia).
