HOW I STARTED RUNNING: I started in high school. Even as my career evolved, and my work schedule became more hectic, I was always able to incorporate running into my schedule. Now, I always make time for a run. It’s one of the most satisfying parts of my day.
FAVORITE ATHLETIC ACCOMPLISHMENT: Crossing the finish line before two-time Olympic medalist Frank Shorter at the 2005 Falmouth Road Race.
I WISH I COULD TELL MY “YOUNGER SELF”: Cross-train!
IF I COULD CHANGE ONE THING: I’d allow myself more time to stretch at the beginning and end of each of my runs.
BEST ADVICE I GOT ABOUT RUNNING: Pace yourself. Once, I was running a half marathon that had a lot of hills on the course. I had been approaching the hills at full speed until a gentleman who was also running the race told me that I needed to exert less energy going up hills. It was great advice I now apply in all of the events I run.
FAVORITE RACE: My favorite is in Falmouth, Mass., the annual CIGNA Falmouth Road Race. The atmosphere and the energy of the runners are incredible. This year will be my 11th time running the race.
WHEN I’M NOT RUNNING: I’m reading and doing Bikram yoga.
