I Am Runner
Warm, hard packed earth beneath my feet
Sky blazing blue
The sound of a hawk cheering
Sun beating down
I hear my even breathing
My time to grind, think…dream
Push the pace hard, just to that patch of violet flowers
Slow it down to peep and see the deep cornflower sea
Pick it up again, crest the long hill
Fly down the other side
I am free.
I’m fast, I’m slow, I’m strong, but never in a million years weak.
One step out the door
Releases a whole world of possibility.
I am she.
I am runner.
