I produced (and am also actually in)  “From Fat to Finish Line.” The film is being distributed by Gravitas Ventures (the people behind Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and The Secret.) The film will be available on iTunes and Amazon on Aug. 2 and later in the year on Netflix worldwide.

The film documents the inspirational journey of 12 people from across the country who all lost about 100 pounds or more through healthy eating and running. The 12 team up to run a challenging, non-stop, 200-mile Ragnar race from Miami to Key West Florida. The film highlights the up and down battles that people face when taking on big goals like losing weight or long distance running. It ultimately drives home the point that there will be set-backs, obstacles to overcome and bumps along the way but if you keep getting up and moving forward you can reach your finish line.

Early buzz on the film has generated a community of more than 3,000 new and overweight runners. More than 100 of these “From Fat to Finish Line” community members met up and ran together this past November at Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & 1/2 Marathon. We are also planning a big event at Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach this September.

I have my own weight loss story. It took me 3 years but I ultimately lost 100-plus pounds and have kept most of it off for the last 6 years. Once a chain-smoking couch potato, I now consider myself a runner; my last big race was the NYC Marathon.
