Boston Marathon Bomber Sentenced To Death

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, one of the men responsible for the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, received the death penalty today, according to CNN. Jurors deliberated for more than 14 hours over three days to reach a unanimous decision, one that remains controversial among many that have followed the ongoing trial. Tsarnaev and his brother’s actions ultimately killed four people and injured more than 260 others in 2013.
Families of several of the victims were present for the sentencing, but Tsarnaev showed no visible response, which will likely be appealed by his lawyers.
People took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the verdict and deliver their support for the #BostonStrong community. While the final decision marks somewhat of an end to an extremely difficult trial, the spirit of a great city and amazing sport will continue to thrive every year on Marathon Monday and every day in Boston and around the country.
