On occasion, I enjoy posting quotes from real women runners. Whether
barely a beginner, an experienced elite, or any level in between, all of us
gals are bound together by the common themes of our running experience. – Holly

I first started running to mend a broken heart. My
friend Giovanna, an experienced marathoner, swore the only way I was going to
get over my heartache was to run the hills and canyons of the East Bay.
It took months before I had enough wind to tell her what I thought of her
“cure”…by then I was hooked and had enough sense to thank her.
Running is the purest way I express myself. When I am out on
a long run and the rhythm of my stride synchs up with my breath and my heart, I
feel as if I am being the best that I can. On a bad day – when I feel like
every joint is on an independent program – I still feel better after I’m done.
