The
thing about long holiday weekends is that it’s awfully tough to return to work afterward.
It seems as though as soon as you finally ease into a state of relaxation,
suddenly it’
s BOOM! – Back to reality.

I
had such a lovely mini-break that I’ve decided I will make every effort to
maintain my refreshed feeling with little pockets of rejuvenation throughout
this week – and I’ll share the secrets to
my faux-getaways with you!

One
of my favorite ways to create a soothing atmosphere at home is to burn candles.
Yet I’m very particular about
the candles I use, and I always prefer a range of
fruit-scented soy-based creations. One brand that I’ve loved for years is Pacifica. Their line of
fruit inspired blends – Bali Lime Papaya, Brazilian Mango Grapefruit, Hawaiian
Ruby Guava, Mediterranean Fig and Tuscan Blood Orange – is impossible to
resist.

A
more recent discovery is Capri Blue, which I pick up at my local Anthropologie
store. Again I have a bias towar
d the fruity smells, favoring their Black
Currant Cassis and Peeled Navel Orange.

Pull
out your favorite candles, flick off the overhead lights and squeeze a little
bit more holiday out of your evening!
