I recently returned from Nashville where I witnessed the planned mayhem of the 10th annual Country Music Marathon & 1/2 Marathon. CMM is one
event in the series of Rock & Roll running events, aptly named due to the numerous live bands throughout the race course.

While some races, such as the Boston Marathon, are more
geared toward elite athletes and require qualification to participate, the Rock
& Roll Marathon Series
invites everyone to come along for their rockin’ fun
runs. With such an encouraging environment, you’ll find runners and walkers of
all ages, abilities, shapes and sizes filling the courses to overflowing.

According to a spokesperson for the event, the Nashville race boasted
almost 30,000 participants, with a full 60% of the athletes being female. It’s
rare indeed to find an athletic event where the gals outnumber the guys.
Obviously these women are on to something, and I encourage you to join in the
fun! Check out the full calendar of Rock & Roll races here.
