What’s the best piece of advice you have for new runners?

Remember, progression is not linear! Often new runners experience early success and improvement and then get frustrated when they hit a plateau. Even the elite runners have weeks or months when they are putting in quality workouts but not seeing the results that they want. If you find you aren’t getting faster, or are having a hard time running longer, be patient and trust the process. Don’t forget that everyone has her own journey. Many times we compare ourselves to other runners and may feel that we are behind our friends. While you may feel sore and tired this week, a couple of weeks from now you will feel stronger as more smooth muscle memory kicks in and this whole running thing isn’t so new anymore. Stay focused—at times it takes weeks of consistency before your next breakthrough!
