Holiday races are sweeping the nation. Embrace the spirit by breaking a sweat and planning one of these races for later this year.

Runners can burn off those latkes and chocolate gelt while freezing off their little tuckuses at the Dreidel Dash, offering a 5K, 10K and a Maccabee Mini Mile. Due to freezing Minnesota temps, races start in the early afternoon, followed by a (indoor!) post-dash bash.

In its 36th year, the Santa Monica to Venice Christmas Run is an annual tradition for many So-Cal runners. Don your favorite holiday duds for a chance to win
the costume contest. Points are awarded for creativity—last year’s champions? A team of runners wearing backwards hats, gold chains and big red bows (aka the “Gift Rappers”).

Texas’ annual KwanzaaFest welcomes more than 50,000 participants to celebrate African American history with art, live music, dancing—and a bit of running too! The KwanzaaFest “Beat Obesity” 5K is part of the organization’s mission to support a healthier community.

At the Santa Hustle, every runner (whether they’ve been naughty or nice) receives a free white beard, fuzzy hat and a long-sleeved shirt printed with buttons, fir trim and a big black belt—all to create the awe-inspiring sight of thousands of Santas running through the snow in Soldier Field.

Work up an appetite while hitting the streets with some of the greatest runners in history at the Feaster Five. Four-time Boston Marathon winner Bill Rodgers and Olympic gold medalist Joan Benoit Samuelson are regu-lars at the 5-mile race that hosts more than 10,000 Bay State runners every year—each of whom receive a mini apple pie when they cross the finish line.
