You know the cute bandages you buy for your kids,
with cartoon characters like Dora the Explorer, Curious George or Hello Kitty?
Well no need to envy your children – now you can dress your own owies with
custom bandages which not only look cool, but which promote awareness of the ongoing
need for blood donation.
Nexcare Bandages has partnered withAmerica’s Blood
Centers to create the “give” bandage campaign. In conjunction with World Blood
Donor Day (June 14th, 2009), “give” bandages will be distributed June 8th – 14th at blood centers nationwide. Donors
will be encouraged to wear the unique bandages in recognition of their
contribution and to inspire others to do the same. The bandages will also be
available to the public beginning Friday, May 1st at www.nexcare.com/give. The site provides
information on blood donation, testimonials from blood donor recipients and
locations of local donation sites.
According to America’s Blood Centers, one pint
of blood (the amount taken in a typical donation) can save up to three lives.
The entire process takes approximately one hour of the donor’s time.
Considering that someone in America needs blood every two seconds, an hour seems a small sacrifice to make and a
wonderful way to give meaningfully in these times of economic uncertainty.
