I felt an intuitive pull to stop at my mailbox on my way to the track this morning, so it was no surprise to find a tidy little package waiting there. What was a surprise was my immediate affinity for the gift inside – a sweet new pair of Rudy Project’s Ability sunglasses.
On first glance, the Ability is a fashion-loving athlete’s dream come true. Technical sunglasses with aesthetic appeal can be hard to come by, but Rudy Project scored a perfect ten with the Ability’s gorgeous good looks. My pair’s frame is a deep Raspberry color which fades to white, a sophisticated blend which subtly satisfies my fetish for all things pink.
But the Ability’s beauty is more than skin-deep, offering an array of advanced technological features to win the admiration of even the most hardcore runners and cyclists. Most notably, Rudy Project’s advanced digital mapping creates a women’s specific molded fit – these are not your boyfriend’s hand-me-down shades. The Ability sports Multilaser red lenses which are highly scratch resistant, repel water and sweat droplets and provide maximum UV protection. The wraparound shield also offers excellent peripheral coverage, while the Ergo IV nosepiece keeps the sunglasses securely in place. At 25 grams, the Ability is so lightweight that you might even forget you’re wearing glasses at all – that is until your training partners compliment their super-sweet style.
