Every runner girl knows that the best way to see a new city is with a pair of running shoes and your own two feet. One of my favorite parts of going on vacation is using my runs as sightseeing excursions. But sometimes, when traveling for work, the idea of a grand exploration after a long day is just too much for me to handle. The sun’s going down, I’m in a strange place, I need my rest—these are just some of the excuses I use to flop on my freshly-made bed or head to the comfort zone of the hotel gym.
This week, I took a business trip to San Diego, a city I’ve never visited before. When my alarm clock went off at 6:30 a.m. the first morning, I hit the snooze button twice before finally dragging my butt out of bed, lacing up my shoes and venturing onto the unfamiliar streets. The run that I almost slept through turned out to be one of the most stunning 40 minutes of my life. Click through the pics to see the amazing route I stumbled upon—I know I will whenever I start making up “good excuses.”:)
