It’s that time again! We’re happy to share this week’s Women’s Running magazine Blogger On The Run- Heather from Running With Sass! This former high school sprinter was bitten by the long distance running bug after cheering on friends running the Disney marathon. She keeps motivation high thanks to the accountability of her readers. Read on to find out more about Heather:

WR: How would you describe yourself?
H: I am a sprinter turned distance runner who also loves yoga, basketball, and volleyball. I have a passion for all things Disney, especially runDisney races. My family and two furry children mean the world to me, and I love that they are just as excited about health and fitness as I am. I live on the Mississippi gulf coast and blog at RunningWithSass.com about running and healthy living with a touch of sass. I strive to be encouraging and motivating to people on all different points of their own fitness journey!
WR: How did you begin running?
H: I ran the 100m in high school and loved it, but to me a mile was “distance running”. Who would have thought in 2009 after watching some friends run the Disney marathon, I would be there the next year running the half, followed by the full in 2011. The atmosphere at the race was intense and motivating. Watching the runners made me feel so proud of them, and I didn’t even know them! I caught the bug that day, big time!

- WR: What keeps you running and training?
H: My passion for living a healthy lifestyle for myself and for my family, as well as my amazing accountability partners…my readers! I have the most awesome readers who amaze me with their talents and encouragement every day. They keep me moving even when I don’t feel like it.
WR: What’s your favorite race memory?
H: Running my first full marathon and getting to cross the finish with my husband, hand in hand. We had an amazing time and finishing gave me such a great feeling of pride and accomplishment. The girl who thought a mile was long, just ran 26.2! Everyone who knew me in high school was amazed. To this day i get goose bumps just thinking about it.

- WR: Are you currently training for a race? If so, which one?
H: I am signed up for the Disneyland half marathon, and I am going goofy in January 2013! So I will run the half Saturday followed by the full Sunday. Yikes! I’m nervous!
WR: Best running advice you’ve received or given?
H: I am a very competitive person, so the best advice I have ever been given is to not compare myself and my race times with other runners, but instead to just compete against myself. I want to be the best version of me that I can be.
