Ever wonder how to turn your passion into a job? This week’s Women’s Running magazine Blogger On The Run might have stumbled upon her dream job, but there’s no question that she transformed her love of running into a dream career. Let us introduce you to Monica from Run Eat Repeat. This spunky marathoner began blogging over four years ago to share her story of weight loss and running with the world. Read on to find out how Monica keeps running fun:
WR: How would you describe yourself?
M: I started blogging four years ago to document my weight loss and training for my first marathon. For some odd reason people started reading and the site has grown into a dream job! Now I blog daily offering running tips, food diaries, weight loss features and random musings that are mostly only entertaining to me.
WR: How did you begin running?
M: It was kind of by accident – I started walking to lose weight. After a few months of walking on a treadmill I got bored and started running. I kinda haven’t stopped since!
WR: What keeps you running and training?
M: I just love it. I can’t really explain why, but it’s my favorite thing.
WR: What type of run is your favorite?
M: I like long, slow runs- just pounding out miles and miles.
WR: What’s your favorite race memory?
M: Breaking 4 hours in the marathon last year. It almost killed me, but I did it.
WR: Are you training for a special race right now?
M: I’m an ambassador for the ING New York Marathon, so that’s what I’m training for. Eeek!!!
WR: How do you reward yourself for accomplishing your training/running goals?
M: Pizza followed by frozen yogurt.
WR: Best running advice you’ve received or given?
M: When it gets tough I try to remember that running is hard and we should do it because we enjoy it. It’s supposed to be fun! When you get burnt out mix it up with a new route, different distance or find a friend to run with. Have fun out there!
