Sometimes we run for ourselves. We get out there because we need to clear our head, because work is stressful, because it seems like the kids need us 24/7, because we want to see the sunrise. Running, though often solitary, isn’t always just about us. Sometimes, we also run for others. If you are interested in giving back and want to make a difference with your running, here are a few easy ways to do so.

Make your next race a fundraiser.

A search of local races is sure to turn up a race that supports a cause. Go beyond the donation of your race registration and ask friends and family to support you as your run with a purpose. Most races with a cause have a fundraising platform built into the registration process, or you can link up with an organization like Team in Training.

Volunteer with local run clubs.

Find a local chapter for Girls on the Run or Let Me Run, volunteer and become a mentor and role model. Or you can find local races and volunteer on race day to hand out water along the course or help with registration.

Make every mile count.

You can make every mile you run count with a training app like Charity Miles. Choose a charity, log your daily miles and you can easily make a difference with every step you take.
