NCAA runner turned high school coach Hillary Kigar has an answer for all things training!
Q: What is the best beverage besides water to bring on a jog?
A: If you’re just going out for an easy run, you don’t need much in the way of calories or electrolytes. Thankfully, there are a variety of light electrolyte-replacing beverages out there that are good to bring with you on a short run. Some, like G2 (by Gatorade) or Powerade Zero, come bottled and are great low-calorie choices that are easy to grab and go.
Other alternatives include Nuun—a tablet that dissolves in water and is made from plant-based ingredients—or powder drinks, such as Gu or Clif Electrolyte Hydration Mix. Especially as the weather heats up, it is important to be prepared and not rely on a drinking fountain that might not even work!
