Give Me Food.
I wake up in the morning with the biggest smile on my face, because I know breakfast is coming after my morning workout. I’m giddy just thinking about it–should I have a spinach omelette or some pancakes? Hmm, maybe both. I imagine the warm syrup pouring over the hotcakes and I feel my mouth water at the fresh mango that is going into my smoothie. This is heaven and I’m never leaving.

Give me food.
I’m training for a marathon and I’m hungry. A LOT. Pounding out 50 to 60 miles or more every single week along with strength training and normal life (“Mom, will you swim/play soccer/chase me at the park?”) means giving the body fuel–or everyone will pay the ultimate price, aka dealing with a crazy mother runner (muah ha ha).
My kitchen becomes the ultimate playground, especially after a glorious, bountiful trip to the market. I used to dread grocery shopping and now I skip out out of the house (kidless!) with glee. I get energized to bake muffins, homemade bread and protein balls. I’m in love with the mixer; the blender and I are best friends; and the food processor and I go way back.
Turkey meatballs with sweet and sour glaze…
Oatmeal dark chocolate muffins…
Garlic mashed potatoes…
Pasta a thousand various ways…
Egg tacos…
Homemade sushi…
Miso salmon…
Chocolate mousse…
Watermelon…
Banana Bread…
Beet pancakes…
I can’t get enough.
Three meals and two snacks mean the world to me. Celery and almond butter is addictive and homemade sweet potato fries are my jam. After a unsatisfying dinner tonight (one kid fell off the chair and started crying, which meant my dinner was left half-eaten), I couldn’t wait to put the munchkins to sleep. I waited until I was sure the coast was clear and then crept to the kitchen to eat the deliciously rich pasta straight from the bowl while standing up.
Don’t bother me–I’m eating.
Popcorn with melted butter infused with garlic, bubblegum (which I crave during training), crackers with cheese…
If eating this delectable food is wrong, then baby–I don’t want to be right.
Don’t bother me.
I’m a ravenous marathoner.
