Smoothies are great to cool down after a long run, but have you tried sipping on one pre-workout? This tasty smoothie comes from the new book Simple Green Smoothies by Jen Hansard and Jadah Sellner.
Hansard is an avid runner and recommends this recipe as a simple, pre-workout drink. Bananas can be easily converted into energy. Adding coconut oil (blend at room temperature; no need to preheat) will help you maintain stamina throughout your entire run. Omit the spinach if fiber bothers your gut.
Ingredients:
2 cups spinach
1 cup unsweetened coconut water
1 cup water
1 cup chopped pineapple (frozen recommended)
1 cup sliced peaches (frozen recommended)
1 banana
2 Tbsp. coconut oil
Directions:
Blend spinach, coconut water and water until smooth. Add pineapples, peaches, banana and coconut oil and blend again.
