The Honest Company Hand Sanitizer Spray
Some hand sanitizers can feel like sticky 3 chemicals, but The Honest Company Hand Sanitizer Spray ($6, honest.com) is an antiseptic and a moisturizer (with aloe) made of plant-based ingredients that comes in lavender, lemongrass and orange scents. You can keep a spray bottle in your car to always have a quick fix at the ready—especially after using the portapotty.
Saje Pain Release Blend
We fell in love with the Saje Pain Release Blend ($39, sajewellness.ca) after the Lululemon SeaWheeze Half Marathon in Vancouver, where runners were gifted a calf treatment at the finish. The 1-ounce roll-on bottle is perfect to stuff in your carry-on for any destination race. Not only will your muscles feel relaxed following a hard effort, but the peppermint smell will be appreciated by your postrace brunch buddies!
Simple Micellar Cleansing Water
Simple Micellar Cleansing Water ($9, Target) looks like plain H2O, but it’s pretty powerful. Gentle microscopic oil molecules (micelles) pull dirt, makeup, sebum and any other daily unpleasantries off the skin with the swipe of a cotton ball. The formula is so light and gentle that there’s no need to rinse it off, which means that the moisturizing ingredients can stay behind to be absorbed.
All Good Deodorant Rose Geranium & Jasmine
After a race you need products that are kind to stressed and chafed skin. All Good Deodorant Rose Geranium & Jasmine ($9, allgoodproducts.com) is a gentle glide-on formula with no aluminum, paragons, phthalates or propylene glycol. What’s left is good ingredients like calendula and aloe vera to soothe skin, arrowroot powder to soak up sweat and essential oils and naturally occurring enzymes that stop odor-causing bacteria before they start.
HyperGo
HyperGo ($15 for 20, hypergo.com) offers generously sized, 1-foot-square biodegradable wipes, so it’s easy to wipe away post-race sweat and smells. The sturdy, natural fiber cloth is infused with a fresh, mild scent and soothing moisturizers like aloe and vitamin E. Your skin—from your face to your toes—and your friends will thank you! These also come in handy, single-towel travel packages for $2 each.
Tocca Hair Fragrance
You know that no-so-hot smell your strands get after a hard race? Swap eau de dried sweat for an elegant scent with just a few spritzes of Tocca Hair Fragrance ($36, anthropologie.com). Denatured alcohol and coconut oil are easy on your mane. Our favorite of the five fragrances is Florence with hints of bergamot, violet petals and wood.
