They’re more than just a portal to the Upside Down.

Over the last few years, float tanks have boomed in popularity, with spas that offer sensory-deprivation experiences popping up all over the country. The hit show Stranger Things also introduced one into its sci-fi story line, when a pool full of heavily salted water gave one character access to an alternate world. The jury is still out on any supernatural powers, but a recent study in BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine uncovered that flotation tanks may have a profound positive effect on your health. Persistent pain, stress, depression and anxiety all decreased significantly after seven weeks of use. Good for the mind, body and soul? We’re on board!
