Universal Studios Hollywood has announced “Running Universal,” a brand-new series of fun runs that’ll guide participants through Universal Studios Hollywood and part of its backlot. The series is launching next year in an attempt to offer runners (and non-running participants) a unique opportunity to experience the theme park in a new atmosphere.
The first run in the series, the inaugural Minion 5K, will take place on May 11, 2019. Inspired by the Despicable Me film franchise and the Despicable Me Mayhem Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood, the course will be sprinkled with the mischievous minions and other Universal Studios characters as it leads runners through the park to end at 5 Towers on Universal Citywalk. At the end of the race, participants can celebrate their finish with live music, food and post-race memorabilia that includes Minion 5K finisher medals, race t-shirts, minion pins and more.
Registration is open to runners ages 5 and older and costs $75-$135. To learn more about this race and other races still to be announced, visit the official Running Universal website.
