Close to 5,000 elite and recreational runners from 46 states and 19 countries participated in the 39th edition of the America’s Finest City Half Marathon and AFC 5K under mostly cloudy skies and temperatures that ranged from 68 degrees at the start to the lower-70s at the finish. The scenic 13.1-mile America’s Finest City Half Marathon (or “AFC Half” as it is often referred to) started at 6:30 a.m. at the historic Cabrillo National Monument in Point Loma. The course then took runners past Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, along the San Diego Bay, through downtown San Diego, finishing near the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.
