2018 AMAs Playlist

With the American Music Awards airing next week, it seems like an opportune time to preview a few of the top contenders. In spite of the award show’s name, the nominees are selected based on data collected by the folks at Billboard. To that end, the show itself errs heavily (but not exclusively) on radio hits. Below, we’ve tried to tease out the ones that double as workout tunes.

In conventional categories—like Favorite Pop/Rock, Country and Latin, you’ll find Taylor Swift, Thomas Rhett and J Balvin competing, respectively. Moving into the more AMA-specific awards, you’ll find Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey up for Collaboration of the Year, Beyonce and Jay Z (aka The Carters) up for Tour of the Year and Ariana Grande up for Favorite Social Artist.

As with any award show, the competition is probably secondary to the performances—for viewers, at least. That being said, the list below should give you some idea of what’s in store for the big night and a little inspiration to run at the same time. When ready, you can survey our picks—organized by the categories in which they’ve been nominated—below.
