RACE

The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon is a bucket list-worthy race. In early December, you can don the complimentary blue and green jersey and race through the city streets with nearly 60,000(!) fellow runners. Choose from the marathon, ekiden relay, half marathon, 10kor 5k, all of which start at various locations throughout Singapore and converge at a single finish line. Opt for the full 26.2 miles and you’ll be rewarded with a magical start through Orchard Road’s Christmas light display, as well as views of Chinatown, the Singapore Flyer and dragon boats pushing through the water along East Coast Park.

RUN…

Free to the public from 5 a.m. to midnight, the Singapore Botanic Gardens provide the perfect sanctuary any time of day. Local runners flock to the three-mile path lined with heritage trees, lily ponds, waterfalls and tropical flowers.

SHOP…

Perhaps the number-one shopping destination in Asia, Singapore has no shortage of places to spend your lui. Orchard Road, is a bustling mall-packed stretch where you can find anything from flowers preserved in solid gold and Burberry clutches to chopsticks and snow globes. In the market for a race-day outfit? Jog a few blocks south of Orchard to Hill Street and keep your eyes peeled for Running Lab, a giant specialty store for fitness enthusiasts.

SLEEP. . .

Walking distance from the marathon’s finish line, the Conrad Centennial Singapore is the perfect place to rest up for the big race. Exceptional service, luxurious rooms and complimentary slippers make your stay feel comfortable—but the real draw is the breakfast buffet. After the marathon, you can head back to the hotel to enjoy a spread of fresh watermelon juice, congee, coconut pastries, spiced sausage, smoked fish, fresh-made waffles and more.
