Update as of June 8, 2016: The Victory Tour has been canceled and will not be touring Los Angeles or Atlanta as planned. A Nike spokesperson shared, “Regrettably, the NikeWomen Victory Tour will no longer be visiting Los Angeles or Atlanta. We’re committed to continuing to serve athletes with inspiring running and training events and there are still plenty of ways to run and train with us. We invite consumers to visit nike.com/nikeplus to connect with the Nike+ community and Run with Nike+ Running App and Train with the Nike+ Training Club App anywhere, anytime.”
For those runners who were devastated by the cancellation of Nike’s flagship half marathon in San Francisco, the new event hitting multiple cities this year may get you on your feet again.
The fresh NikeWomen Victory Tour is the largest women’s event series in the world, according to a press release from the company. The series, which kicks off March 13 in Japan, invites women of all levels to become #betterforit by competing in races as short as a 10K to as long as a full marathon, with NTC workout experiences sprinkled in (some running as long as five hours). If you’ve ever participated in any of the swoosh’s nighttime “rave workouts,” you know what’s up.
Running through September, the NikeWomen tour will hit various cities around the world. All cities have been home to past Olympic Games, including Atlanta, which hosted the 1996 Summer Olympics, and Los Angeles, where Nike athlete and spokesperson Joan Samuelson won the first women’s Olympic marathon in 1984—an iconic moment. Each race, put on by the Nike+ Run Club (NRC) will include exclusive perks, such as fresh racecourses, bra fittings, access to trainers and coaches and product testing.
So basically, you’re drooling over a total Nike rendezvous that rivals that of any other event. Registration for most cities opens January 29.
