Here’s What’s Great About Outside+ For Runners (Especially Ones Who Do More Than Run)
By expanding my focus a bit wider than running, I became a stronger, happier runner.

At Women’s Running, we love running. (Obviously.) But we’re also about so much more than that. Our team knows that women are not one dimensional, because we are not one dimensional. We are runners…and friends and mothers and partners and career women. We are runners… and hikers and bakers and readers maybe even dabblers in mountain biking or triathlon.
The point is, we know you care about things outside the miles you log every week. We know you care about being a well-rounded runner, and person. Which is why we’ve consistently delivered stuff like easy at-home strength and mobility workouts, delicious runner-friendly recipes from Elyse Kopecky, and coaching advice on how to set boundaries and how to set realistic running goals. It’s also why we’ve dedicated our platform to start conversations that are bigger than just the sport we love: conversations about motherhood, mental health, relationships, and career. We strive to cover it all, as best we can.
But as a small team, we’ll always be a bit limited as to how deep we can get in those “extra” areas. That’s where Outside+ comes in.
As we announced back in February, Women’s Running parent company acquired Outside and Outside TV and we renamed our company to Outside. As you’ve also probably been aware, the media industry as a whole has shifted and new business models—mainly, membership models—have emerged. Asking consumers to pay for content is not new, of course (you’ve been picking up copies of magazines at newsstands and signing up for subscriptions for decades); however the digital world and enormous span of offerings that ask for financial buy-in has grown unwieldy over the past few years (podcasts, newsletters, newspapers…all with their own per-month fee). We know it feels like media is asking a lot. We know all the costs add up. Which is why on our end, we’ve worked hard to create a bundle that is truly worth investing in.
I won’t hit you with the whole marketing spiel of how much you save and all the value you get by signing up. You can clearly read through all of that on the signup page here.
But I will tell you that our team has had an inside look at the expanded network for a few months now—and have had the privilege of working with the incredibly talented and dedicated editors behind brands like SKI and Backpacker, Yoga Journal and Trail Runner—and their collective added value has already helped each of us here at Women’s Running build a more well-rounded, active life in one way or another. And we feel confident that it can help you, too.
To be able to pull what feels like endless meal plans from Clean Eating, join live virtual classes with Yoga Journal (ideal accountability for a runner who knows they need yoga, but can’t ever seem to commit to doing yoga), and track weekend adventures with Gaia GPS, this new membership and larger community allows us to unlock even more tools and resources for you. (Oh and if you love camping and spending nights under the stars as much as I do, you will not want to sleep on the night sky photography online course. It’s amazing.)
I like to think of this expanded team as our support staff. Because we can do it all (cue hair flip emoji), but we can’t do it all at the same time. So while we continue to focus on bringing you the stories of the inspiring women across all levels of the sport; delivering fresh and focused women’s running service from the best coaches and experts in the country; and starting conversations within our community that help drive real change and growth around us; the rest of our team will be bringing you their best, too.
