Sharon Gallant is from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and we asked her a few questions about running:

Why do you run?

So many reasons…I feel most connected to myself when I run. Because I can, because so many can’t, and to feel strong.

Describe your favorite place to run.

Beside my best friend and soon to be husband, Andy.

What’s your go-to pre- or post-run meal?

Pre-run: Peanut butter and banana on a flat bread. Post-run: Eggs and avocado.

What makes you a badass?

This weekend I lined up at the start line of the Comrades Ultra Marathon in South Africa (90K run). It’s been on my bucket list for years. Making it happen makes me a bad ass. That and running my long training run of 40 miles in the snow in Denver (altitude).

How will you celebrate Global Running Day?

I’ll no doubt be in a state of recovery from my 90K—but I will lace up my shoes for a walk/jog to celebrate with all of the international runners.
