Marie Dervaux is from Kas, Antalya, Turkey, and we asked her a few questions about running:
Why do you run?
I have three kids under the age of 6, and running is this time of the day when I’m on my own—it’s my special time, just for me! After a run, I feel I’ve done something healthy and I feel good about myself.
Describe your favorite place to run.
I live in a small town on the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by beautiful mountains. I’m blessed every day because every run has the most scenic views. But there are not many options for running routes. I love running along the Marina, watching the boats and, farther on, watching the waves hitting the cliff.
What’s your go-to pre- or post-run meal?
I don’t have any special routine. When I run early morning just after I wake up, I have my breakfast when I come back, granola and turkish yogurt with filter coffee.
What makes you a badass?
The fact that I was able to finish a half marathon less than a year after I started running. I never thought I could finish it because the longest I had ever run was 11.5K, so imagine how I felt after I finished 21K!
How will you celebrate Global Running Day?
I hope I will be able to run that day and maybe a drink in the evening with fellow runners!
